Employment Market Gone Crazy
Working in the field IT for over ten years. I'm going to face a crisis that I've never seen before: All my sub-ordinate have been resigned.
Chatted with some of my friends, looks like many business have difficulties to keep their own work force, especially staffs from middle to high level.
I've heard cases that people can easily find new job with more than 20% of salary rise. While most people can only get less than 5% of salary rise if they stay in their own position this year. Since studies show the average salary rise of HK employee is only 5% this year. That means lots of positions with low education requirement have no salary rise at all.
Back to the field of IT. Seems to me there is a shortage of IT workers in HK. This year is the 6th year after the IT bubble burst. There are less and less IT graduates from university in the passed 3 years. So we have the situation today.
In fact I don't think it is healthy. This will cause more and more IT outsourcing. So IT business in HK will need to move to mainland China.

....but then why I don't have salary increase this year lei?....may be I should consider jumping away from this big boat....
Well, how long have you staying in your current position? In small company like yours, you need a good timing to ask your boss for salary rise. Good Luck
