The Internet congestion after 12.26 earthquake in Taiwan

Having problem accessing overseas websites for a few days. Finally I managed to logon to my blog and write something.

The root cause is 6 out of 7 cables are broken in the earthquake.

It'll takes weeks to repair the cables, but I think it is not impossible to bring Internet service back to normal in a shorter period.

As major cities in the world are well connected with information carriers like cables and satellites. Disconnection between 2 point should be easy to be recover by re-routing information traffic to other routes. The only problem is it'll take little time and some money to make the arrangement. As we always said: "Problem can be solve by money is not a problem". It is just a matter of money and determination for ISPs to fix it completely.

A chart from the Internet Traffic Report shows the global response time increased after the 12.26 earthquake
